For some people, maintaining a healthy
diet and a regular exercise program are
not enough to eliminate excess fat or to
improve the loose, sagging skin in this
area. This is particularly common in women
after pregnancy. These stubborn problems
can be corrected by abdominoplasty.
An incision is made from hipbone to hipbone,
just above the pubic area. A second incision
is made around the navel. Excess fat and
skin are removed, and the abdominal muscles
are tightened. The skin is then pulled down
and stitched together. The navel is brought
through the new incision, and is stitched
into place.
This cosmetic procedure takes about 3 hours
to complete and results in a flatter, tighter
looking stomach.
